Right now we do not have any plans for 2012 besides getting rid of the TF (Tritrichomonas Fuetus). Well, that is not the whole truth, I have started to plan some cat shows as well but none of our cats will participate on shows before they have been tested and found negative for TF. People have claimed that our cats have infected their cats on cat shows, even in the period of time when we have stayed at home. So I can imagine what they could make up when we actually go to cat shows again
We hope that we will have Ronidazole in a week or two and that we could test the cats at the end of February. Hopefully they all have negative results on their tests! We will not make any plans for new litters until we know that the TF has left the building
But then we will make some exciting plans
I have had several conversations with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority about the complaints they have had regarding our cats and how they live their life here with us. Several times the inspector and I have made appointments about checking out the conditions, and several times I have been disappointed. I will try once more because I will not have this allegations hanging over our heads. They are unreasonable and unfair but our concience is i clear and we can still look in the mirror without any bad feelings at all. We have ascertained that people who was visiting a few times last summer have not payed us any visits since the inspector from NFSA called the first time and I wrote about it on Facebook. Is this a coincidence? It certainly does not look like it
and new plans are in the making. 2012 will be a exciting year with some secrets that will bring our breeding a step forward. I have started to plan the cat-shows we will attend to, and as usual there are more shows we want to attend to than we will have possibility to do. And it would be great to go to a show in the south of Norway and Sweden to meet some of our breeder-friends. Time will show how this will end.
Lion-O, Prille and Muffin is placed downstairs in the large catroom, and they are having a lot of fun together. They are climbing, jumping and running and using the new cat-furnitures we have down there. On Sunday 1. of January the rest of the cats will join them because on Monday the work in our kitchen will start. We think it will be the best both for the cats, us and the workers if all the cats are secured in a room and can not disturbe the work - or run out because somebody forgets to close the door properly. I am not looking forward to this because I will miss our fourlegged friends, I am used to have them around me. Luckily this is only a short period and they will soon run around me again.
Yesterday we removed the most of the kitchen cabinets and the room is dark and naked. Tomorrow all the cabinets will be picked up by someone who wants to use them. They will have the dishwasher as well, so the water will be turned off in the kitchen.
We have bought new cat-furnitures and the ones from Katzen-Deko is really nice! And the cats love them
No wonder that they do.... All textiles a washable and that is one of the reasons thet we chose this products.
In the livingroom downstars or the large cat-room as we call it has regular Trixie-furniture. Not so practical but they will do for å while. We have had furnitures from Trixie that has lasted several years and we guess these ones also will.
Bart & Honeybump grows and are not babies anymore. They are soo sweet! It has been some time since we had a photosession and that is something that is on our to-do-list. I have tried to take some photos of Bart, but black cats are not easy to take nice pics of.
The cats loves the beds on these furnitures and often the only thing we can see are their ears
I will take up my bloging again. We have had some hard months regarding our cats, but we hope that we soon will be back on track again
Since last time we have cured the Giardia
on all cats, that periode was a really hard one since the cats did not like the medicine. In addition to that we have cleaned our house uncountable times, have tossed our furnitures (among our furnitures we did also get rid of 15 large and small cat trees) we have painted both outdoors and indoors. Now the new stuff has started to come and we walks steadily towards a completely new interior style. And that is quite fun! The cats are more happy after they got som new cat trees, and more is on it`s way. Next week maybe we will have some fun stuff for the cats
Well, the Giardia left us and the Tritrichomonas Fuetus payed us a visit. We were not exactly happy when we got the result of some tests for TF. THe cats that we tested was positive. We have not started the treatment yet (Ronidazole) because Puma`s kittens are too young to be treated with Ronidazole. They have to be at least 12 weeks old.
Puma`s litter was a nightmare. She was very stressed and the first kitten was stuck. After 2 hours I took her to the Vet`s to get some help for her. When we opened the cage Puma has managed to give birth to the kitten in our car. Since we was at the Vet`s I decided that Puma and I should stay until the delivery was finished. Finn-Ove was at work and for the first time I was alone with a delivery. Puma got 5 kittens (1 choc male, 1 choc female, 2 lavender females, and a black boy) the last one was a little girl and she was born with her intestines outside. The vet came and put the intestines inside her again and said that this was a longshot, but since we were at the office he wanted to try. Sadly this little girl died after 24 hours.
The rest of the kittens looked strong and healthy and they gained weight the first 24 hours.
But after a few days the little chocboy did not gain any more weight, no he lost weight. To make a long story short - we lost him 2011.10.03. The authopsy showed that he died of blood poisoning, and the reason for that was that he had G-Strep. Just as I thought.....
Well, now they were 3 kittens and none of them was healthy, strong kittens anymore. They was treated with Dalacin but they did not get well as they should if the reason for their problems were G-Strep. The other choc kitten, wich both the vet and we thougth was a boy, was really a little girl. She got weaker and weaker, and I took her to the vet`s every day in her last week. Our vet`s did not manage to put in a probe to feed her by and on Friday 2011.10.14 we went to Bodø and got help there. The little girl was very sick, and no one thought that it would be possible to cure her. She got the probe, was feeded by it and she got saltwater with sugar directly in a vein on her neck in addition to medicine the same way. They managed to stabilize her, and one of the assistants took her home with her to treat her and hopefully she would be better during the weekend. At first she was better, but on Sunday morning she lost the fight.
Now they were 2, and both of them was quite week. After a few days I gave up on them, and stopped to give them the antibiotics. But none of they died, they both surrender! And now we have a beautiful black boy and a lavender girl!
We will of course not let any of the cats mate before we have finished the treatment against TF. But when (if?) we have completed the treatment and tested the cats, we will make some new plans.
Now we have 3 males, Muffin, Prille and Lion-O. Muffin and Prille has got a Suprelorinchip and they are like neutered cats. Lion-O are trying to mate everybody of the cats, but none of them are happy about his "flirting". Lion-O has started to spray, but as long as we did not have almost any furniture, this was not a problem. We did not think that Prille and Muffin also sprays, but we were of course wrong. Prille sprayed on one of our new Christmas curtains, right in front of me so it was impossible not to see what was happening. And with new sofas, tables, chairs +++ we did not want the boys to spray on the new stuff. Prille and Lion-O are placed in the bathroom downstairs and when they are allowed to be with the other cats they wear dipers. So now we are there.....
Tigergutt, our 4th male, did not develop the way we hoped for and he moved to another family to be the king in their castle. So now the Ramithiline is closed in our cattery. Spitfire was the only girl from this line and she is neutered. Her kittens are pets and they are neutered. But Randi continues breeding so maybe we will have Ramithilines later on.
We have 2 carpenters that is building a new cat-room, it is placed in connection with the utilityroom. We are really looking forward to finish this room!
Everything has been quiet and very peaceful and we were looking forward to the 2 matings that was planned at NO*Milamen´s. I have booket the tickets for Finn-Ove and the cats and we was excited about what Wen´s new family would think of her when they picked her up. We were also looking forward to our holiday in Turkey, the first holiday ever since I became a mother in 1994. Both my kids are going together with us, and we counted days the last weeks. But today the reality knocked on our door - again. I got a phonecall from the vets, and I got the message I did not want to have. Tigergutt ((N)Bekmørtnans Against All Odds) has tested positive for giardia
He have had diarrhea three times since he was born, and his right eye has been teary and a couple of times there has been some yellowish discharge wich we have removed with sterile water. We have talked about taking him to the vets, but both his diarrhea and his sore eye has just been there for a couple of days. When he got his second shot I told the vet about this and asked her if she thought it would be smart to test him for giardia. She said that we could of course test him, and then wait for the result to find out what to do. And now the result is clear........
Finally the PRA-results for Tigergutt is ready, and we were very lucky again! He is N/N like all our other cats we have tested
It is a priviledge that all our cats are PRA N/N and it feels like we have won in the lottery. Not every catbreeder/owner is as lucky as us.
Lion-O`s date is cancelled, due to personal matters for the owner of the female. It is a pitty, but life makes some twist and turns sometimes and we just have to ride along with them.
We have changed some of our plans, and Puma is going to meet GIC S*Coral Reef´s Joker (osh d 03 24 var) in his new home. Puma´s mating with Lion-O will be postponed to the winter 2012. Also Bruno has got some excitement in front of him, he is going to meet a lovely siamese lady this fall.
After we have finished our holiday in Turkey, Finn-Ove will travel to Sweden to pick up our new girl. She is sooo beautiful and we are totally in love with her! Her name is Qrowntwig Rumor and she is a siamese n21. She will be a great contribution to improve the type of our longhair breeding. Thank you so much Maria for trusting us with this beauty!
with your very first litter! Thursday 16th of June Doc gave birth to 7 kittens
She is a wonderful mam and do not like it when the twolegged wants to hold one of them
We are looking forward to follow the kittens development, and we are soo curious about their names!
Lion-O has got a date, and later this summer a beautiful girl will move in with him for a while. He is not ready yet, but I do not think that it will be a long time until he can do what a fertile boy are supposed to do
And after this girl our Puma is next in line. I am really longing for their kittens, can hardly wait any longer!
Sweet little Tigergutt is growing fast and he is quite clever in climbing and jumping, and running. But he does not always remember that the floor is slippery, so often he falls and surfs on the floor
We have a webmaster that has designet our website and she has also been doing all the updates. But I want to do them myself, and finally I have got Dreamweaver on my PC. This last week I have tried to change and update our website, and some of it went well, other things did not turn out as I wanted them to. My excuse is that I do not know anything about HTML, CSS and other codes, and I have never seen or used a program like Dreaweaver. So it is a lot to get a grip on, and so far I have not managed to do all that I wanted to. But I do think that in time this will be better! Our webmaster Caroline will still be there for me for some months and knowing that makes it easier to try things I never done before. It´s quite challenging and I´m happy as a child on christmas eve for every little thing I manage to do
Our little Tigergutt is doing fine and he is growing fast! Today he is 5 weeks and 4 days and he weighs 673 grams! He has started to use the litterboxes, but he do not want to try any solid food at all. Mams milk is more than enough for him. We will not force him to eat, we just give the cats wet food as usual and place the plates near him so he is able to see that the others are eating. At the end he has to be so curious that he tries to test this strange thing - we hope for.
In July Tao will move to her new home, and her slaves on two legs are a veterinarian and an animal-nurse. In addition to those on two legs, she will live together with a bengal boy and a domestic cat.
In August Wen will move to her new home, and then we have only 6 cats at home, 4 of them males.....
Cheetara is not our cat now, her foster"parents" owns her. And all this means that we have the opportunity to keep a girl from one or 2 of our planned matings.
We have made plans for matings for the year to come, but as long as we are dealing with live animals this plans can suddenly change. The first planned mating is between Puma and Lion-O and it will take place as soon as he is fertile. If he is like his father, we can estimate the mating to happen in August/September. Time will show
This is the only mating we have planned for Lion-O and he will most certain be a happy neuter after his kittens are born - when they are born
This summer we would really try to make the large cat-run we have dreamed of since the first time we visited our house before we bougth it. As soon as Finn-Ove´s starting his holidays we have planned to start building. I´m really looking forward to this! I guess both the cats and our dog will appreciate a larger cat-run.
Doc & Joker moved to Milamen´s Cattery earlier this year and now there are kittens on their way! In mid June the litter is expected, and I´m very curious on these kittens. I hope they will be of a nice type with lots of white! And of course - longhaired! I´m counting days!
Prillemann (Bruno) is developing nicely and he´s grown a lot the last month. When Puma called last time he really wanted to help her.....
Lion-O did not care at all.....
Today I have had a photoshoot and my daughter Marie helped me. I took 300 pics and as usual only a few was ok. But some of the pics were so sweet that I do not care if they do not have the best quality. I´ll show them anyway!
Wen, Faffa & Tigergutt. They still spend most of the time together
3 boys - Lion-O, Muffin and Prillemann. I just love Lion-O´s tale!
I think he is a lovely siamese boy, and we are looking forward to his kittens!
Tigergutt 5,5 weeks old. His fur is fantastic! His ears are quite small but wll placed, just like his father´s ears was. Both Vasco and Faffa has dominant eyes but so far we can´t see that on Tigergutt.
Muffin - he has kept his excellent profile!
Tao´s watching her mam nursing Tao´s little halfbrother
Tao´s checking out the accommondations in the cage
"Hey sis! That´s our place! It´s just for me, my mam and auntie Wen!"
Yesterday we got the results of Bruno´s DNA-tests, and we are very happy with them! Bruno has been tested for PRA and if he´s a carrier of dilute and chocolate. And the results shows that he is neither PRA homozygote or PRA heterozygote
His breeder are very happy of this result also, she has been a bit nervous
And I can easily understand her, I have been there too regarding the offsprings from our cats. In addition to this super result, the tests also confirms that Bruno is carrying dilution and chocolate
And that means that Faffa and he has a possibility to have both chocolate, lilac and BLUE pointed offsprings
I just love bluepointed and blue cats!
After testing most of our cats (it is just little Against All Odds that needs to be tested) we have super results! Of 7 tested cats none of them has either the homozygote or the heterozygote PRA-gene! And the statistics for tested oriental cats shows that approx. 40% of this population are either homozygote or heterozygote for PRA. If the results in our cattery was following the same pattern, 3 of our cats should have been either homozygote or heterozygote for PRA. But Lady Luck was in our corner this time
And now we hope for little Against All Odds to follow the same path
He is a big boy now, almost 540 grams today (at the age of almost 4 weeks). Yesterday he started to climb on the climbing post, and this morning he jumped down to the floor when Finn-Ove sat down to cuddle. The little one is growing fast and he has developed nicely. Now we will try to teach him to eat some food and not only succle on his mum. He also need to learn how to use the litterbox. But this will come in due time.
Our lovely little Kinderegg - he meets our 3 wishes - now it´s time to find some new ones for him
