Next week we will test the cats for TF, and hopefully they will all be negative    Our vet has conferred with the lab who is doing the tests about how to gather the stool from all cats the best way possible both for the cats and the reliability of the results. We do not want to drug the cats to retrieve the stool and we are so lucky that this could be done in an easy way for the cats and us! We will give the cats a large meal of chicken and place them in different areas in our house with their own litterbox. And then it is just to wait for some poo    We will collect the stool as soon as it has reached the litterbox, and we will use small glasses with a lid on to place the stool in, and then the glass will be placed in the freezer.Next day we will deliver this glasses at our vet`s and she will send them to the lab. Please cross your fingers that all our cats will have negative results on their TFtest!!

Next week we will also take some of the cats to our vet, it is time to give them their shots. Also Bart & Honeybump will have their second vaccineshot and if we are lucky and there is no more TF paracites left, we will put out an ad and start the process to find new homes for our little ones that have grown quite well. They are almost 5 months old and it is time to move. We will miss them terribly and especially Bart who is the sweetest boy ever. He love to kiss us, and he is caring for our hair - a lovely little hairdresser! Honeybump is a sweet girl and she loves Finn-Ove. Our house will be very empty when they move....

Today Finn-Ove decided that it was about time the cats got something special for dinner. In several weeks they have only got dry food, but today it was time for some Whiskas. And When Finn-Ove opened the first box, Muffin came running to the kitchen. A little bit weird since he does not usually run anywhere at any time and he is not fond of canned food. But today he seemed really happy about it, and he ate a reasonable portion

Our fertile males have been separated since Vinnie moved in, and we are prepared that this will continue. There is only a mesh door between them, and they often sit in front of this door talking to eachother. We have talked about letting them meet but I have been anxious for the two would harm eachother. This afternoon Finn-Ove took Vinnie in the catroom and he and Lion-O met. They just sniffed and talked, no sign of stress or anger. They played a bit and they both wanted to mate the otherone    After 10 minutes Finn-Ove took Vinnie out of the room and now they sit in front of the door again, talking    But I do not trust this to last, I can not imagine that they could be friends as they both are fertile. None of them has mated yet, so I guess that the situation would be changed when they have. But we will enjoy this adventure as long as we can!

Finn-Ove took a picture of the boys greeting - not the best quality but a rather sweet one

Vinnie is checking out Lion-O who is super chill, laying at the floor

Vinnie at the hotelroom at Gardermoen. After drinking, eating, use of the litterbox it was time to play with his favourite mouse

Some time ago we got a picture of (N)Bekmørtnans Ko Kham Yoi (bal f). The picture was taken at her first birthday and we are suprised over her development! She looks so nice, we did not belive our eyes because she was quite mediocre when she moved to her new home.

And in addition of being a nice balinese female, she has the same super eyecolour as her mother Spitfire.

The treatment against TF seems to be a success! After 4 days there was no diarrhea in the litterboxes, and that was even faster than we had hoped for    No sideeffects has been observed on any of the cats, so this anxiety was  also unnecessary    Today the cats will have their last pill of Ronidazole, and then we just have to wait for a few weeks before testing. Hopefully they will all be negative, we cross our fingers......

Our dear Vinnie (Genesis of Beugnycats) has been tested for PRA and unfortunately the test showed that he has two copies of the CEP290 and he is likely to go blind. We will of course check him regularly at an ophthalmologist to monitor the development of his blindness. We want to do this in the best way possible, to facilitate for him so he can live a full life with us and our cats. We have discussed his positive test both here at home but also with other breeders and we have decided that we will use Vinnie in our breeding as planned. The reason of this decicion is that our females are all PRA negative and in a combination with Vinnie they will only make carriers. Carriers of PRA is as good as PRA negative cats since none of them could ever develop blindness. We just have to make sure that our carriers does not mate any other carrier. When using a carrier after Vinnie in our breeding we could choose a PRA free offspring in the making of our next generation. That way we will be able to include Vinnies benefits (his look and his temper) in our breeding without creating more PRA affected cats. Some breeders have contacted me regarding our choice and said that our plans for using Vinnie in our breeding is unwise and will create problems for his offspring. We can not with our best intentions see that this is correct, and we will not consider this input regarding our plans. If someone combines two carriers of PRA, they will statistically have 25% PRA free, 50% PRA carriers and 25% will be affected by PRA. This is nothing we would do, we think this is morally reprehensible in contrast to combine a PRA affected with a PRA free cat. But we have seen other and more experienced breeders do this

Vinnies pedigree is registered at the Pawpeds database, and so is the result of his PRA test. When his pedigree was registered we discovered that there is a balinese among his ancestors . Her name is GEP Zoë Pri Yamaska Van de Restiemoor, and she is/was a bal j. When we discovered this we decided to test him for the longhairgene to find out if he really was a carrier, but we weren`t that lucky   Nevertheless he will be a great asset to our breeding and we look forward to see what he can give us!

Vinnie is a very affectionate cat and he loves to hang on our shoulders our sleep on our bellys. A while after he came to us we choosed to introduce him for Bart and Lina, and this was a big success. There was no doubt that he was happy to not be the only cat with us, and the 3 of them have had a lot of fun. Tonight when the cats have got their last pill we would introduce Freja, Muffin, Puma and Honeybump to him. Since Lion-O is fertile as well as Vinnie, we will not introduce those to eachother. Lion-O and Prille will stay in on of the catrooms downstairs, we will not take any risks.

We did not manage to wait until the testresults for TF before making plans, it is too exciting to wait with them. As soon as the results are ok and the girls are in their heat, Vinnie will meet our beautiful Jagara. We think they could make som really nice variants    Lion-O will mate Lina and Puma, and in the litter from Lion-O and Puma we will have (hopefully) some nice OLH`s since Puma is homozygous oriental and do not carry the gene for points. Lion-O and Lina will have pointed kittens, and since Lina is a carrier of longhair, there migth be both longhaired and variants in this litter.

We  have made some plans for cat-shows, and we will attend both Trønderkattens show in Trondheim the last weekend of March, and Björkstakattens show two weeks later. We are really looking forward to participate again! It has been a long time since our last cat-show. We plan to bring Lion-O and Vinnie, and we are a bit excited to bring two fertile males. How will that be? We have shown fertile males before, but only one at the time. It is a challenge!

We have also booked planetickets and hotelroom for the SWS in september this year. This will be our first time showing cats at this great show! Hopefully both our fertile boys will qualify

In April we will have a new girl from our new cooperative breeder S*Milliminas. This girl is a osh variant with a splendid pedigree! None of her offsprings will be sold to other breeders and her kittens will be neutered before moving from us to prevent "accidents" to happen. A lot of people want to have a cat with a pedigree and at first they tell that they will neuter their cat. But some of them don`t and this is reflected in several websites where there is a lot of kittens for sale that have a mother or a father with a pedigree. We will not be a part of this, therefore we will neuter our small ones before they leave.

I have tried to keep our new boy as a secret, but now I have to tell you about him    I am really bad at keeping secrets that is my own, but if anybody tells me a secret I can keep it forever. This new boy came to Norway in the beginning of January 2012, and he was already a fertile male. He is born on 2011.04.25, in France. He has a outstanding temper and he is full of selfconcidence! After a long flight from his home in France, he came to a motell at Gardermoen and as soon as he was let out of his bag he streched and went straight to the waterbowl. After drinking he had to eat a little, and then - use the toilet! He acted as he has been born on the motellroom and there was not any sign of stress or fright. When he came home, the first one to greet him was the dog. He had never seen a dog before, but that was no problem for him! Today the two of them plays with eachother and noone could tell that he has not seen any dog until 3 weeks ago. He is very talkative and sometimes he sings opera for us and the dog    He has a strong voice and there is no doubt that he is fertile   We have planned some cat-shows for him, and this summer will be very exciting! He has some matings ahead and so does Lion-O, so soon here will be some new litters! We are really looking forward using this 2 beautiful males in our breeding, and we hope for nice kittens after them. The new boy`s name is Genesis of Beugnycats and he is an osh c. Thank you Fabrice & Laura for this super male, and thank you Anouchka for your help!

I have stolen some photos from Fabrice`s album of Genesis, hopefully he will forgive me

Here is some photos of our beauty! (Photos taken by Fabrice)

We also have another cat that I have not presented, our sweet bluepointed sia var girl from Finland. Her name is FI*Ballahane Evangeline, and the breeder is Kristiina Rautio. We call her Lina, and she is a very strongheaded girl that knows exactly how she wants it. Lion-O think she is the worlds eigth wonder, but she certainly do not think the same about him! She has a super pedigree and we are looking forward to her kittens when she is old enough. Thank you Kristiina for this sweet girl!

Some photos of Lina, she was only a baby when these was taken but we will fix some new ones soon

Right now we do not have any plans for 2012 besides getting rid of the TF (Tritrichomonas Fuetus). Well, that is not the whole truth, I have started to plan some cat shows as well but none of our cats will participate on shows before they have been tested and found negative for TF. People have claimed that our cats have infected their cats on cat shows, even in the period of time when we have stayed at home. So I can imagine what they could make up when we actually go to cat shows again

We hope that we will have Ronidazole in a week or two and that we could test the cats at the end of February. Hopefully they all have negative results on their tests! We will not make any plans for new litters until we know that the TF has left the building    But then we will make some exciting plans

I have had several conversations with the Norwegian Food Safety Authority about the complaints they have had regarding our cats and how they live their life here with us. Several times the inspector and I have made appointments about checking out the conditions, and several times I have been disappointed. I will try once more because I will not have this allegations hanging over our heads. They are unreasonable and unfair but our concience is i clear and we can still look in the mirror without any bad feelings at all. We have ascertained that people who was visiting a few times last summer have not payed us any visits since the inspector from NFSA called the first time and I wrote about it on Facebook. Is this a coincidence? It certainly does not look like it

and new plans are in the making. 2012 will be a exciting year with some secrets that will bring our breeding a step forward. I have started to plan the cat-shows we will attend to, and as usual there are more shows we want to attend to than we will have possibility to do. And it would be great to go to a show in the south of Norway and Sweden to meet some of our breeder-friends. Time will show how this will end.

Lion-O, Prille and Muffin is placed downstairs in the large catroom, and they are having a lot of fun together. They are climbing, jumping and running and using the new cat-furnitures we have down there. On Sunday 1. of January the rest of the cats will join them because on Monday the work in our kitchen will start. We think it will be the best both for the cats, us and the workers if all the cats are secured in a room and can not disturbe the work - or run out because somebody forgets to close the door properly. I am not looking forward to this because I will miss our fourlegged friends, I am used to have them around me. Luckily this is only a short period and they will soon run around me again.

Yesterday we removed the most of the kitchen cabinets and the room is dark and naked. Tomorrow all the cabinets will be picked up by someone who wants to use them. They will have the dishwasher as well, so the water will be turned off in the kitchen.

We have bought new cat-furnitures and the ones from Katzen-Deko is really nice! And the cats love them

No wonder that they do.... All textiles a washable and that is one of the reasons thet we chose this products.

In the livingroom downstars or the large cat-room as we call it has regular Trixie-furniture. Not so practical but they will do for å while. We have had furnitures from Trixie that has lasted several years and we guess these ones also will.

Bart & Honeybump grows and are not babies anymore. They are soo sweet! It has been some time since we had a photosession and that is something that is on our to-do-list. I have tried to take some photos of Bart, but black cats are not easy to take nice pics of.

The cats loves the beds on these furnitures and often the only thing we can see are their ears

I will take up my bloging again. We have had some hard months regarding our cats, but we hope that we soon will be back on track again

Since last time we have cured the Giardia    on all cats, that periode was a really hard one since the cats did not like the medicine. In addition to that we have cleaned our house uncountable times, have tossed our furnitures (among our furnitures we did also get rid of 15 large and small cat trees) we have painted both outdoors and indoors. Now the new stuff has started to come and we walks steadily towards a completely new interior style. And that is quite fun! The cats are more happy after they got som new cat trees, and more is on it`s way. Next week maybe we will have some fun stuff for the cats

Well, the Giardia left us and the Tritrichomonas Fuetus payed us a visit. We were not exactly happy when we got the result of some tests for TF. THe cats that we tested was positive. We have not started the treatment yet (Ronidazole) because Puma`s kittens are too young to be treated with Ronidazole. They have to be at least 12 weeks old.

Puma`s litter was a nightmare. She was very stressed and the first kitten was stuck. After 2 hours I took her to the Vet`s to get some help for her. When we opened the cage Puma has managed to give birth to the kitten in our car. Since we was at the Vet`s I decided that Puma and I should stay until the delivery was finished. Finn-Ove was at work and for the first time I was alone with a delivery. Puma got 5 kittens (1 choc male, 1 choc female, 2 lavender females, and a black boy) the last one was a little girl and she was born with her intestines outside. The vet came and put the intestines inside her again and said that this was a longshot, but since we were at the office he wanted to try. Sadly this little girl died after 24 hours.

The rest of the kittens looked strong and healthy and they gained weight the first 24 hours.

But after a few days the little chocboy did not gain any more weight, no he lost weight. To make a long story short - we lost him 2011.10.03 The authopsy showed that he died of blood poisoning, and the reason for that was that he had G-Strep. Just as I thought.....

Well, now they were 3 kittens and none of them was healthy, strong kittens anymore. They was treated with Dalacin but they did not get well as they should if the reason for their problems were G-Strep. The other choc kitten, wich both the vet and we thougth was a boy, was really a little girl. She got weaker and weaker, and I took her to the vet`s every day in her last week. Our vet`s did not manage to put in a probe to feed her by and on Friday 2011.10.14 we went to Bodø and got help there. The little girl was very sick, and no one thought that it would be possible to cure her. She got the probe, was feeded by it and she got saltwater with sugar directly in a vein on her neck in addition to medicine the same way. They managed to stabilize her, and one of the assistants took her home with her to treat her and hopefully she would be better during the weekend. At first she was better, but on Sunday morning she lost the fight.

Now they were 2, and both of them was quite week. After a few days I gave up on them, and stopped to give them the antibiotics. But none of they died, they both surrender! And now we have a beautiful black boy and a lavender girl!

We will of course not let any of the cats mate before we have finished the treatment against TF. But when (if?) we have completed the treatment and tested the cats, we will make some new plans.

Now we have 3 males, Muffin, Prille and Lion-O. Muffin and Prille has got a Suprelorinchip and they are like neutered cats. Lion-O are trying to mate everybody of the cats, but none of them are happy about his "flirting". Lion-O has started to spray, but as long as we did not have almost any furniture, this was not a problem. We did not think that Prille and Muffin also sprays, but we were of course wrong. Prille sprayed on one of our new Christmas curtains, right in front of me so it was impossible not to see what was happening. And with new sofas, tables, chairs +++ we did not want the boys to spray on the new stuff. Prille and Lion-O are placed in the bathroom downstairs and when they are allowed to be with the other cats they wear dipers. So now we are there.....

Tigergutt, our 4th male, did not develop the way we hoped for and he moved to another family to be the king in their castle. So now the Ramithiline is closed in our cattery. Spitfire was the only girl from this line and she is neutered. Her kittens are pets and they are neutered. But Randi continues breeding so maybe we will have Ramithilines later on.

We have 2 carpenters that is building a new cat-room, it is placed in connection with the utilityroom. We are really looking forward to finish this room!

Av Lisbeth Jacobsen - 21 juli 2011 23:44

Everything has been quiet and very peaceful and we were looking forward to the 2 matings that was planned at NO*Milamen´s. I have booket the tickets for Finn-Ove and the cats and we was excited about what Wen´s new family would think of her when they picked her up. We were also looking forward to our holiday in Turkey, the first holiday ever since I became a mother in 1994. Both my kids are going together with us, and we counted days the last weeks. But today the reality knocked on our door - again. I got a phonecall from the vets, and I got the message I did not want to have. Tigergutt ((N)Bekmørtnans Against All Odds) has tested positive for giardia

He have had diarrhea three times since he was born, and his right eye has been teary and a couple of times there has been some yellowish discharge wich we have removed with sterile water. We have talked about taking him to the vets, but both his diarrhea and his sore eye has just been there for a couple of days. When he got his second shot I told the vet about this and asked her if she thought it would be smart to test him for giardia. She said that we could of course test him, and then wait for the result to find out what to do. And now the result is clear........
