I have dreamed about a OLH girl for several years, and I prefer a blue or lilac without pattern. And this summer a discovered that a swedish breeder got two litters of OLH-kittens. In the first litter there were 3 lilac girls    Summer went on and I followed the breeders HP closely and waited for new pictures of the girls. I thought one of the girls looked very interesting, and I was eager to see how she developed. Finally, when the litter was 10 weeks, the breeder updated her HP and I was able to see how "my" girl had developed. And she was stunning! After some mails we made an agreement and little S*Peptalk´s Lucuma was going to move to our home! Last Sunday we went to Sweden to pick up Lucuma - or Puma as we had named her. We did not know Lucumas´s breeder Annika and hergirlfriend Linnea, but they were so nice both of them and easy to talk with and we had some nice hours with them. Puma was exactly as beautiful as we hoped, and we felt very lucky to have this lovely girl with us home to Norway. Puma was behaving excellent on the trip, no crying at all! She met some of the cats on Sunday, and she´s a tough little girl! Already after two days Puma and Vasco was pretty close and played together. Now it´s like Puma has been here all her life, and she is a funny and mentally strong girl - I would not be surprised if she´s the next leader of the pack after Faffa.

Isn´t she beautiful?

Some weeks ago Faffa and Muffin mated, and of course we hoped for kittens! But we were a bit sceptic since Faffa had a false pregnancy this summer and her hormones has gone a bit crazy after this. Faffa had big lumps on her belly and when we discovered them we thougth about cancer at once. Our veterinarian told us that this condition was harmless and that the lumps would go away after some time. and we were so happy when we found out that Faffa now is pregnant! We are really looking forward to our very first balinese-litter, almost 3 years since we started our breeding. In this 3 years we have had one shorthair-litter and 5 litters with both siamese variants and balinese. Of course we were very happy for those litters as well, but there is something extra with a balinese litter. Faffa´s day 63 is on Sunday 2010.11.07, but she might go a bit longer before the delivery starts. Her mother Jeanne D´Arc got her kittens at her day 63, and if Faffa is like her mother, Finn-Ove is able to be Faffa´s midwife! He has helped all our girls during their delivery, I have just been sitting by, taking notes, taking photos and helped him if necessary. Wen´s day 63 is on 2010.10.14 This is a Thursday and Finn-Ove is working. Hopefully Wen waits till Saturdag or Sunday to deliver her kittens, because then Finn-Ove can be her midwife as well. It feels more safe to have him with me, I prefer not to have the responsability alone

Last Thursday the G3 course on internett started, and I have finished my assigments yesterday. I thougth I had to wait a few days before the teacher has the time to look at them, but she has done it yesterday evening! And I´m so happy that she gave me her thumb up, I have passed on both of the assigments! Now the first weeks is completed, only 11 to go....

Finn-Ove, my husband, took a photo of little Vasco laying on Joker´s stomach yesterday. Isn´t he sweet?

There´s no doubt that grown up boys are important to the kittenboys!

We are not in doubt that Wen is pregnant, she´s eating all day long and when she´s not eating she sleeps. Her belly has grown the last few days and we are so happy that we soon will have kittens in the house again - that is if everything goes well. And we hope it will!

Muffin is struggling with his hormones, they are taking over his body and mind almost totally. Poor boy! But even he is hunting girls and shouting (and a little bit spraying) he finds time to lay down in our laps to cuddle. He also takes good care of Vasco, and several times a day Muffin washes the little boy. Muffin never misses a meal, if it´s raw meat. The rest, dry food, canned food and chicken he think it´s poison and walks big rounds to avoid it. Such a strange, sweet, loving & fun boy!

Mischa are in heat but we will not let Muffin mate her because we can´t have 3 litters at the same time. But we still do not know if Faffa is pregnant, and if she´s not we will mate Mischa and Muffin on Mischas next heat. When Mischa started on her heat tis time, she suddenly wanted to be Vasco´s mam. Vasco do not appreciate to be liftet by Mischa and he has grown a bit since he came home to us so it´s hard for Mischa to lift him and take him to a private place for the two of them. It´s especially hard when Vasco regrets to be carried and he uses his paws like a hammer on Mischa´s body og head. They are so cute together!

The matings done earlier this summer ended in false pregnancies, both for Faffa and Mischa. We think that Muffin was not fertile enough, and the same with Joker. Hopefully Joker will regain his fertility during this autumn, and then we hope for kittens between him and Dr. Meow.

Wen and Muffin mated about three weeks ago, and the last couple of days her stomach has grown larger. We hope for kittens in the middle of October, and healthy ones too    We do not want to have a copy of her first litter, where the kittens all died before they were 6 days old.

Yesterday we discovered that Faffa was in heat, because Muffin mated her. She has not given us any signs before the mating, so this was a big surprise! We thought that we might have to wait for some time until Faffa got in heat, because she was false pregnant and she had hormone disorders that made large lumps on  her belly. When we discovered her lumps, we thougth about cancer right away and rushed to the veterinary. He examined her thoroughly, and could reassure us that the lumps were harmless and would disappear in time.  Muffin and Faffa has mated several times yesterday and today and we cross our fingers for our first balinese-litter!

Today it is only 2 weeks until we are going to Sweden to pick up our OLH-girl

Last Thursday I started on Pawpeds G3 internet-course. I think it will be rather nice to learn more about cats and breeding of cats, and I am looking forward to this. When I finished Pawpeds G1, I was the second categori IV-breeder in Norway and the first breeder of all breeds in northern Norway to finish this course.

After finishing a complete course, we are allowed to use the ribbons belowe

and hopefully some time before the end of 2010 I have achieved the 3rd ribbon.

I have completed the albums for our first 6 litters!   This should be done months ago, but I have been very good at pushing it ahead of me. Today I have uploaded more than 300 pictures to our Website! I have used the whole day to do this because I only can work on the computer for shorter sessions. But now I am satisfied!

Little Vasco is a wonderful kitten, so full of confidence, so happy and playful. The boys took him into their group at once, well at least Muffin and Joker did. Læstefar needed a few days to sort out this little and very vivid boy, but now they are wrestling and hunting eachother.

Muffin thinks the girls are unfair with him. When he tries på play with them they always got angry and spank him. He can`t understand why they don`t want to play his way, which is a girl laying down at the floor and Muffinis at the top of her. Muffin is really good telling us how awful the girls are, but he don´t get any help from us. And then he talks even more, while walking round the house. Suddenly either Joker, Vasco or Læstefar jumps out from one of their hidingplaces and giving Muffin a little schock. Schocks like these makes Muffin able to think about someting else than girls and the boys are hunting eachother for a while.

In a couple of weeks we are going to pick up our new girl! She is a beautful lilac (lavender) girl, and we are so happy that we was picked out to be her new familiy. Whowever, with this girl we will have 11 cats here at home and it´s time to think about some cats moving to other homes. We hope for a litter soon and that somebody who´s one of our kittens new owners will be interested in a neutered adult as well. Some of the girls we have today will most likely just have one litter and after that litter the girls will be neutered and rehomed. If you are reading this and want to give a grown up cat a nice home, do not hesitate to contact us!

That´s the question!

Earlier this summer Joker mated Faffa and Muffin mated Mischa. Both the girls showed us signs of being pregnant, their tummy´s grown bigger, their nipples was brigth red, they slept a lot more than usual and they started to follow Finn-Ove around in the house - just like our other girls use to do when they are pregnant. And two weeks before due-date they both get in the heat again.... Need I say that we were very disappointed? We are eager to have some small kittens in our house again, it´s a long time since last litter. Now we hope that Muffins and Wens mating is successfull, we are crossing our fingers for them! She has red nipples, sleeps a lot and eats a lot    If she´s pregnant, her kittens will be born in week 41/10.

In the middle of August Finn-Ove went to Germany to pick up our new boy Vasco. Vasco comes from Angelika Kneifel´s Noah´s Ark and we feel very privileged to have this beautiful boy in our home. Vasco was "adopted" by our boys imediately and they take good care of him. Vasco is a strong and confident kitten, and he was not afraid of anything but the TV    But his fright for the TV disappeared when he came into my lap and he could see some lions on Animal Planet.

Dr. Meow started her heat yesterday and this weekend we plan for Joker to join her in our livingroom on the groundfloor. Hopefully they will mate and we cross our fingers for a successfull mating!

I haven´t written anything here for months, but today I will tell you about how our cats have been doing it on the 3 double cat shows we have been participating on. It´s about time....

In the middle of April we drove to Umeå in Sweden with 3 cats, Læstefar, Mischa and Muffin. The road was awful, and just before we drove into Umeå, we lost the exhaust on the car and our little blue Opel sounded like a sportcar. The cats did not like this sound at all and they all began to shout. We drove to the sportshall were the cat show took place on Saturday and Sunday, and we fixed the cages for our cats. After finishing this we found the camping were we slept that weekend, and finally we was able to go visit Annie & Lars (S*Bergbackens). They have beautiful cats, especially Myran and My´s little daugther. When we came back to the camping and went out of the car, I asked Finn-Ove about our bag with clothes and toiletries. I thougt it was still in the car, but Finn-Ove said it had to be in the cabin. It was neither of these places, it was at home - 650 km away    Luckily Kjell (S*SiMyKeth) drove Finn-Ove to several shops so he was able to buy some of the things we needed. It was a weird way to get new clothes! I hope we do not have to do this too often

At the cat show everything went ok, and it was really nice to meet some of our swedish friends again. Mischa got her third CAC and became Champion on Saturday. Læstefar got his CAP and became Premier on Saturday. Sunday they both got their certificates. And our Muffin got his third and fourth BIS in Umeå!!    Suddenly we began to think about Muffin and JW.....

In the beginning of May we went to cat shows further north in Norway, to Gisund cat club. This time we brougth with us the same 5 cats as in Trondheim. The grown ups got their certificates and Joker became Grand International Champion on Saturday!! He was nominated as well and brought home the BIS! Læstefar became International Premier on Saturday, got nominated and took the BIS! He won the nomination over EP/EC S*Tammee´s Wonderboy of Scandinavia JW DSM!    Finn-Ove had to ask Martin Kabina if he was serious about his desicion   He was serious.....    Mischa became International Champion on Saturday and Muffin was nominated on Saturday, but Marriljos El Camino took the BIS. Sunday Muffin lost the nomination to Tammee´s Never Ending Love (Nemo).

Next show was in Harstad and our cat club arranged it. It was 25 Cat. IV cats! That´s a lot here in the north. The grown ups got their certificates, Læstefar and Joker was nominated both days but lost the BIS. And even Mischa got nominated! FINALLY a judge saw her qualities! She won the nomination over one sia girl and one osh girl    But she lost the BIS to (N)Himmeltinden´s Beyoncé. That´s ok, Bibbi is a better cat than Mischa. We were soo happy that also a jugde was able to see Mischa as we see her. Quite refreshing actually!

And Muffin.... our dear beautiful Muffin... He did really well both days! He was nominated both days and met Nemo in the BIS competition, and it was nervewracking to sit and wait for the desicion. If Muffin took the BIS, he would be a Junior Winner! Finally, when I almost got a nervous breakdown, the desicion came. Muffin took the BIS and was a JW! He is the second balinese in Norway with this title and I have not been able to find any balinese JW´s in Sweden, Denmark or Finland. I have found 4 JW´s in Poland, but that´s it. This was even bigger than we dreamed of! And we are soo proud of our beautiful Muffin! In addition to the BIS he also became BIS club cat in cat. IV. Sunday Muffin took the BIS again together with BIS club cat!

This has been a fantastic show season so far, and we cross our fingers for the rest of the season!

In addition to this splendid results, we are expecting a litter at the end of July! Mother is our balinese lady Spitfire and father is our Joker. This is the first litter for both of them and it is so exciting! We cross our fingers that the pregnancy, birth and the upbringing of the kittens will turn out well.

Finally, yesterday we completed the medication of the cats! Hopefully we will not loose any kittens due to G-strep after this terrible experience with Wens litter. I think the cats are happy too when the medication was completed

A few weeks ago we started to feed the cats with raw meat, and in the beginning only three of them ate the meat. But now it is only Joker and Kikki that refuses to eat what we give them. I guess they will also enjoy this food in a few weeks     Our dog, Ellie, loves the new food and also chickenwings that we give them to clean their teeth. The cats thinks it is too much work to eat those wings, but eventually they will like it to.

This year we have started the season early for showing our cats, the first show was in Trondheim (in the middle of Norway) 2010.03.27 - 2010.03.28 We had 5 cats with us - Joker, Faffa, Mischa, Læstefar and Muffin. The grown ups got their certificates and nice words form the judges (Wojciek-Albert Kurkowski, Anne-Gro Edstrøm, Kristiina Rautio and Alexey Shchukin). Joker was nominated both days, but as usually beautiful HU*Okonor Kobold DSM (owner Ritwa Nygren) got the BIS. And we think that it is fair, Kobold is a wonderful boy! Our little Prince charming swept everyone off their feet and Wojciek-Albert Kurkowski said "WOW" numerous times when Muffin was on his table! I guess he liked him    Both Kurkowski and Alexey nominated Muffin, and Muffin got the BIS both days!!  And of course all 5 cats behaved very well, and seemed to like to relaxe in their cages. Muffin was not interested when we tried to stretch him to prepare him for the show, but on the shows he showed himself as a star!

Next weekend, 2010.04.17 - 2010.04.18, we are going to Umeå in the middle of Sweden to show 3 of our cats. We will take Muffin, Mischa and Læstefar with us, and of course our dog Ellie as well. We cross our fingers for nice results on those catshows!

Finally our new homepage is finished! We love the layout on the site, and we are very happy that we found Caroline who has made the layout. We have both a Norwegian and an English version, to make it possible for most people to read about us and our cats.

The last weeks or in fact the last month has been filled with sadness and hard work. In the beginning of February our beautiful Wen got her first litter. There were 3 kittens, two girls and a boy. They did not gain any weight and we started to feed them with formula. When they were 4 days old, one of the girls suddenly became very ill. She was cold and was not able to swallow the formula. Her four legs were like lifeless and she did not struggle when we tried to give her the formula. Nothing of what we tried to do helped her, and she died early in the morning. Both the boy and the second girl seemed to be ok but we took them to the veterinarian for a check-up. The veterinarian said they were two healthy kittens, and we went home trusting the vet. 6 hours later the boy also became ill. We called the vet but he said that there was nothing to do with such a small kitten. One hour later the second girl also started on the way down. Their struggle ended late in the evening. I guess you understand our grief and tears for those small kittens and their mom Wen. She searched the whole house over and over and over again, but was not able to find her little ones.

We sent the kittens to a laboratorium and asked for an autopsy, and told the vet that we wanted them to check for G-strep and E-coli. The vet did, and our fear was right, they died due to Streptococcus Canis and E-coli. Our search for a treatment and a veterinarian who was willing to help us, started. For weeks we have called round to find this vet, and we have e-mailed and tried to talk a vet into giving our cat the necessary treatment. And finally we found one, and now we have started to treat all our cats with Antirobe.

Next weekend we are going to a cat-show in Trondheim, and we have five of our cats with us. We hope for our grown ups to get their certificates, Joker needs three CAGCIBS, and hopefully he will get two of them in Trondheim. Spitfire needs two CACIB to earn the title IC. Mischa is in class 9 for the first time, and hopefully she will get her certificates without any doubt. Læstefar is in class 10 and Muffin is in class 12. We are really looking forward to the start of the show-season 2010!
